Principal Content Developer

JOB SUMMARY

Working independently under general guidelines and broad supervision, provides technical communication support by developing technical materials for the business areas, product lines, and corporate services directed at external customer and/or internal audiences.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Maintains advanced knowledge of the businesses\' products and the therapies in which they are used.
  • Mentors Associate Content Developers and Content Developers by providing guidance in good writing practices, CMS usage, project management practices, and navigation of the corporate culture.
  • Works directly with all content developers for a product line to create consistency in content, message and user experience.
  • Works on overall content development plan and execution, including:
  • Analyze current labeling, software interface, and ancillary technical materials.
  • Develop all terminology used for a product line, maintain/revise terminology for existing products.
  • Create and maintain all software strings.
  • Define and develop instructional labeling materials, including all design control documents for those materials
  • Collect data from subject matter experts, software/device/disposable developers, and customers.
  • Develop plan to implement feedback from data collected in a way that improves quality with minimal disruption to ongoing development.
  • Implement overall content plan, delegating development to appropriate staff in the cross functional team, reviewing and approving all content before release.
  • Provides expert knowledge related to product content.
  • Partners with Quality and other Design Control SMEs to ensure the design control process includes instructional labeling requirements. Able to coach and direct Content Developers, and provide expertise to product cross-functional development teams on this subject.
  • Partner with Regulatory and Quality to define how Terumo BCT applies global regulations and standards to instructional labeling. Able to coach and direct Content Developers on these subjects.
  • Partners with subject matter experts to develop content to achieve specific and immediate business objectives. Metrics will be used to determine effectiveness of content.
  • Develops content with content management system and other tools, creates output mechanisms, and analyzes system workflow.
  • Forecasts and meets project deadlines and budgets. Takes the initiative to report on project status and anticipates and alerts manager and internal customers of potential project difficulties.
  • Assists in the maintenance of art, photo, electronic, and printed document files to meet departmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitates discussions and represents Technical Communication team; steps-in if/when department manager is not available.
  • Develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures as part of process improvement initiatives.
  • Seeks on-going knowledge of industry, regulatory, linguistic, and publication standards and applies this knowledge to the completion of all projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education

Bachelor\'s degree or, equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.

Experience
  • Minimum 10 years experience, with at least 2 years management or team lead experience.
Skills
  • Familiarity with structured authoring using DITA elements
  • Experience working directly with localization vendors or internal teams
  • Demonstrated, professional level communication skills in writing/editing, graphic design, or project management.
  • Effective leadership and team building skills.
  • High-level working knowledge of Content Management Systems and workflow.
  • Must be able to collaborate and translate business objectives into tangible content for skill development at all levels.
  • Able to manage ambiguity and make decisions without complete information.
  • High-level knowledge of desktop publishing systems and competency in PC usage, especially Adobe products, XML, XSLT, and CCSs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Typical Office Environment requirements include: reading, speaking, hearing, close vision, walking, bending, sitting, and occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.

Target Pay Range: $103,200.00 to $129,000.00 - Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base: 7.0%
