We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Engineering Leader to drive the technical vision of building a scalable, secure Data Analytics and Insights platform. The person should be able to lead the thought process, designs as well as the implementation of various aspects of eBay\xe2\x80\x99s Big Data ecosystems. They should have hands-on knowledge of building platforms, understanding data and incorporating AI and generative AI technologies to design and innovate both \xe2\x80\x98Platform as a Service\xe2\x80\x99 and \'Data as a Service\' software architecture, while protecting user\xe2\x80\x99s privacy.

This person will represent the Data organization internally and externally as a technical inspiring leader, be able to collaborate across and beyond the organization to build consensus and work their peers to deliver the solution. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in behavioral data capture and processing, experimentation, A/B testing, data analysis, big data development and platform development, combined with proven leadership skills.

Key Technical Responsibilities:

Lead thought process and architectural design with good understanding of industry products and positioning to be able to influence right technology stack recommendations

Develop a strategic technical vision for eBay\'s Experimentation, Tracking, Customer Journey Analytics and Crawler Platforms, working closely with key partners and the broader eBay organization to align goals and priorities

Evolve eBay\xe2\x80\x99s analytical data ecosystems to enable world-class data capabilities, through data and analytics platforms, Generative AI

Drive various levels of technical decisions from systems, services, algorithms to operations and processes

Work closely with multiple engineering teams on detailed designs and implementations to deliver end products

Communicate effectively with client teams inside eBay to collect requirements and drive adoption of new technologies

Drive operational and engineering excellence into all facets of data engineering and software development

Leadership Skills:

Lead with influence to resolve conflicts, build consensus across organization and across eBay

Apply hands-on subject matter expertise in the Architecture of Big Data platforms, and experience with ML and Data Science platforms

Lead with humility and compassion

Requirements:

10+ years relevant experience in quantitative research and analysis, with a focus on data analytics, platform architecture and AI/ML/NLP, big data platform development

Proven ability to design and lead time-sensitive strategic projects involving methodology development, analysis, strategic recommendations, and presentation of findings to different stakeholders

Knowledge of experimentation methodologies, such as A/B testing, multivariate testing, and statistical analysis

Ability to "help break complex" migration problems from one stack to new stack with precise milestones minimal impact to customers is a big plus

Experience working closely with engineering teams to build platform capabilities spanning multiple channels (PC, mobile, tablets) a plus

Nice to have:

Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, NLP, or similar

Hands on familiarity with Deep learning tools such as pytorch, Tensorflow, Sagemager and knowledge of AI architectures and Large Language Models LLM

A drive to keep up and build on cutting edge research

Github links to their code on AI and contribution to open source authoring

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York City is expected in the range below. $187,600 - $291,500

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
