:ResponsibilitiesPRN - Patient TransporterPoplar Springs Hospital is a 183 bed acute care and residential facility. For more than 30 years Poplar Springs Hospital has been guided by its mission of helping those who need the full continuum of behavioral health services. Our facility offers behavioral and psychological treatment for adults and adolescents through our acute programs, adolescent residential programs, as well as programs for active duty military. The PRN Patient Transporter will transport patients/residents to/from appointments as scheduled by facility staff. In addition to providing transportation, this position will also be utilized to perform clerical duties such as but not limited to, filing unit/department supply requisitions, delivery of supplies to various locations and delivery of packages received through UPS, Fed Ed etc. During times when there are no transports scheduled and other obligations are fulfilled, this position may be asked to perform other clerical duties such as filing, copying, and duties as such or be assigned as MHW on a unit. QualificationsPosition Requirements:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including male and female children, adolescents and adults as well as dually diagnosed adults. In absence of these qualifications upon hire, must demonstrate ability to learn these concepts and develop these skills within reasonable time frame via the organization\xe2\x80\x99s orientation and training program.Licensure/Certification/Registration:

• Valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license in good standing per UHS Transportation policy strongly preferred
• CPR Preferred (offered on-site)
• Handle With Care Preferred (offered on-site)

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma

General Requirements:

• Must be at least 21 years of age per Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services.
• Must have patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
• Good communication skills; must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Basic clerical skills, basic experience with office equipment (telephone, copy machine, fax, etc.) Computer skills helpful.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Ability to problem solve and accept feedback when circumstances warrant such actions.
• Willingness to interact with patients with varying levels of cognitive functioning

Skills:

• Human behavior or principles of psychology preferred including therapeutic relationships & processes, age specific growth & development, limit setting, crisis & behavior management.
