As part of the Cultural Sites team, you'll collaborate with the Arts & History Communications team to develop programming that reflects the priorities of the Arts & History Department and the City of Boise's Cultural Sites program. This full-time, 2-year limited-duration position offers an opportunity to engage deeply with the community, working closely with local partners to create impactful and inclusive experiences.
Essential Functions

Plans, coordinates, manages and schedules events, public programs, exhibitions and residency experiences for the city, ensuring programmatic efforts align with departmental and city goals.
Establishes and manages budgets and contracts. Develops program goals, established policies and procedures and assists in coordinating marketing, advertising and membership. Works with others to create and manage on-site exhibitions and programs. Provides customer service, public tours, artist opportunities, public programs, exhibitions and facilities.
Develops and maintains partnerships with city departments, schools, universities, museums and other organizations, neighbors and individuals to develop collaborative programming. Works with legal, finance and other city departments in drafting, implementing and tracking contracts. Serves as a liaison to other city departments and external community groups relating to the Arts & History Department's concerns and planning initiatives.
Hires, trains, supervises and directs the work of temporary employees, contractors and volunteers. Guides and trains volunteers across the Cultural Sites program. Creates and implements staff schedules. Oversees sales tracking, supply and inventory management and customer service operations. Works directly with the facility and security teams for on-site maintenance and safety.
Researches cultural policy and programs, diversity, equity and inclusion and government practices supporting cultural initiatives. Evaluates existing plans, cultural assets and programs to provide performance analysis and to inform future strategic planning documents. Writes cultural and public art plans, papers, reports and policy documents for Arts & History.

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Bachelor's degree in liberal arts, humanities disciplines or a related field and two years of experience managing event coordination, community organizing, public programs and exhibitions and demonstrated success working with a variety of community members from diverse backgrounds, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Knowledge of: art administration and management, public relations requirements and strategies; customer service and cash handling practices and protocols; heritage and cultural planning; contemporary visual, performing, film, music and literary art practices; urban placemaking and planning processes and history; financial and budgeting rules, regulations, laws and procedures; and computer usage including related software.
Ability to: plan, develop and successfully implement projects and programs from inception to completion; utilize public speaking skills with the capacity to serve as a spokesperson for the organization; supervise the work of temporary employees and volunteers; analyze accounting data and prepare and present statistical and narrative reports; interpret complex agreements, policies and legal documents; organize and track multiple projects and complex stakeholder relationships; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; and perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation.
Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Four years of experience managing and coordinating exhibitions, event coordination or community programs.
Fluency in a second language in addition to English.
Licensing And Other Requirements
Valid state-issued driver's license.
