Job Description


Responsibilities:

The Project Accounting Manager will lead a team of project accountants that supports operations with construction accounting services from a project\xe2\x80\x99s inception to completion. This position is highly visible and requires a servant leader who can mentor and guide their team in the successful support of and collaboration with operations as they execute the construction of projects.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties (other duties may be assigned):

  • Leading and managing a team of project accountants that are providing construction accounting services on construction projects totaling more than $1bn in contract values
  • Engaging with operations leadership and project teams to ensure that their accounting services needs are being met throughout the life of a project
  • Coordinating and assisting with the setup of a project, which includes systems, processes, and maintenance activities to ensure project-related accounting requirements are achieved (project assignments, owner accounting requirements, AP workflow management, owner contract maintenance, labor rates, etc.)
  • Ongoing evaluation of our service levels to ensure we are proactively supporting our project teams in achieving owner requirements and project goals
  • Providing day-to-day guidance, troubleshooting, and researching project accounting issues (integrity reports, audit review reports, etc.) to help determine cause and resolution
  • Providing oversight of project accounting activities to ensure compliance with guidelines/policy
  • Supporting team training programs/initiatives and helping identify opportunities for team development
  • Focusing on continuous improvement with processes, procedures, and systems
  • Division support with various financial accounting activities (division overhead, etc.)
  • Proactively maintaining and improving internal and external customer relations
  • Commitment to self-development of personal soft skills in the areas of coaching, team building, mentoring, positivity, listening, problem-solving, leadership, and approachability to foster a more engaged level of team support and work environment
Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience:
  • 2+ years of progressive experience in leadership, management, analysis, and supporting non-accounting teams with accounting services strongly preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills \xe2\x80\x93 both internal and external
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Strong people skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to present information to groups and cross-functional teams
  • Comfortable working in a paperless environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, especially Excel
  • Experience working in multiple software systems (we use Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, Textura, Concur, Construction Imaging, Onbase, Prolog, Procore, Smartsheet, etc.)
Note: The Project Accounting Manager role may be asked to support accounting teams located on a project site or to collaborate with colleagues located in other offices. This support and collaboration may require some travel (<5%). This listing is not all-inclusive.
