What You Will Be Doing
The Project Director will be closely involved in the proposal process, including delivering presentations, negotiating fees to perform project of a certain scope, reviewing and approving written proposal documents, and obtaining authorized signatures on contracts. The PD will also oversee: preconstruction planning, design development, plan reviews, constructability reviews, subcontractor coverage, bid schedules, permit procurement, scope coverage, staffing requirements and general conditions. Additional leadership responsibilities will include:
- Providing VP and President with regular updates on progress towards meeting divisional goals
- Working directly with BD team to actively promote the company and identify bid opportunities
- Assisting accounting team with revenue recognition meetings and holding the Project Managers accountable for proper revenue recognition
- Monitoring profitability of projects and becoming actively involved with correction planning for projects with large variances
- Assisting the President and Risk Manager with management of claims
- Making periodic jobsite visits to view and discuss project progress
- Preparing P&L cost projections
- Helping to enforce site specific safety plan
- Helping employees to grow and develop in their disciplines; mentoring when appropriate
- Other tasks as required
NOTE: Civil group projects will include (but are not limited to):
- Airports/hangars
- Sitework at major military installations
- Roadway work
- Levees
- Parks
What You Need for this Position
Professional Engineer or equivalent level of experience in the engineering field designing and managing projects independently including developing plans and specifications. 7+ years of relevant heavy civil/utility construction project management experience and:
- Bachelors Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline
- Proven track record of generating sales/business in the industry and established contacts with architects and business in the business unit area
- Prior experience with municipal client interactions and contract review
- Proven track record of successfully completed projects
- Prior experience with P&L/financial reporting
- Ability to juggle competing deadlines and prioritize time sensitive tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all stakeholders
- Ability to travel regionally (up to 50%)
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite
- Prior experience with Federal contracts including MATOC, SATOC, IDIQ
- Working of knowledge of estimating, job costing, accounting and scheduling software
- Ownership Mentality: Assumes responsibility and makes decisions within own level of authority; seeks approval when appropriate
