As an Project Water Resources Engineer or Scientist in Raleigh, North Carolina, you will work on complex projects including dam and levee breach analysis, inundation studies, and downstream consequences estimation to support dam safety risk assessments, innovative urban stormwater management and natural surface water systems, sustainable green infrastructure planning studies, urban stormwater infrastructure design and infrastructure, flood mitigation practices, stream restoration, and surface water, watershed, and stormwater runoff monitoring.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Applying innovative hydrologic, hydraulic, and water quality modeling software;
• Perform dam and levee breach analysis and inundation studies;
• Developing innovative green infrastructure solutions for the urban environment;
• Floodplain mapping and flood protection designs;
• In-stream and urban stormwater water quality monitoring and modeling;
• Developing construction documents, including engineering drawings and technical specifications;
• Interacting with client representatives;
• Task and project-level responsibility for scoping, performing, managing, and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments;
• Consistent with our sell-manage-do business model, play a role supporting lead generation, business development, staff development, and mentoring; and
• Help broaden our reputation via publishing and visibility at prominent industry conferences.

Based on your current level of experience, you may be asked to take on task-level or project management responsibilities, along with business development, and staff mentoring tasks.

Here are some other things you should know about a typical practitioner position with Geosyntec:

• Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, boater certification, defensive driving certification, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
• Fieldwork: Up to 5%
• Overnight travel: Up to 10%

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

• Bachelor\'s degree in agricultural, biological, civil, or environmental engineering with emphasis on water resources or closely related discipline. (required)
• Advanced degree in agricultural, biological, civil, or environmental engineering with emphasis on water resources or closely related discipline. (preferred)
• Professional registration (i.e., P.E., P.G.). (required)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 7 years of research or related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
• Experience with modeling and design software tools such as EPA-SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS. (preferred)
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment to perform problem-solving and develop innovative solutions to meet project needs. (required)
• Exceptional social skills and outstanding oral and written communication skills. (required)
• Valid U.S. driver s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
