The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a Psychology Assistant to join the team at the Glenwood Resource Center (GRC). This is a full-time position with a variable schedule that could include weekends and holidays and offers opportunity for advancement, growth, and development. Employees are eligible for a $1,500 retention payment for a commitment of 7 pay periods (14 weeks) and are eligible for renewal at the end of each 7 pay periods until the facility closes. The Psychology Assistant is assigned to a specific home and responsible for program implementation and monitoring in coordination with the GRC Psychology Department and Area Psychologist. This position conducts frequent in-home observations focusing on replacement behavior training sessions, program procedure implementation, quality of life indicators, medication, and other factors. Related responsibilities include frequent collection, accuracy assurance, review, and tabulation of data sheets. Presentation of data for Monthly Integrated Reviews, the Behavior Management Committee, and other meetings will be required, along with participation in area team meetings and selected psychiatric consultations. This position also provides, monitors, and documents competency-based training to staff on Behavior Support Plan (BSP) and Physical Nutrition and Management Program procedures, and assists with mealtimes and activities, providing other hands-on assistance as directed.
The Psychology Assistant participates in the development of BSPs including completing functional assessment procedures, questionnaires, stimulus preference assessments, and summaries for BSPs and Individual Support Plans. This position considers information from team members, graphed data, reliability checks, psychiatric consultations, medical records, and other relevant information sources to provide input and insight into the functional assessment of target behaviors. In addition, the Psychology Assistant serves on organizational committees, attends administrative meetings as needed, and participates in professional development activities.
Located in southwest Iowa, GRC provides residential services for individuals who have struggled to be successful in the community, gives in-home support for those who transition to the community, and assists community-based providers by providing assessments, training, and other technical support. The goal of all GRC services is to help individuals be successful in their communities.
