Holyoke Community College is housed on a multi-million-dollar, 135-acre campus, equipped with state-of-the art technology in specialized learning facilities. The mission of HCC\'s Psychology program is to foster a challenging environment that provides a solid knowledge base in psychological science and a broad background in the liberal arts through quality instruction. The successful candidate will exhibit a passion and commitment to teaching, advising, and shared governance.

  • Teach a variety of psychology courses, both on-campus and online.
  • Maintains regular office hours.
  • Provides academic advising.
  • Attends regularly scheduled Department, Division, and College meetings.
  • Participates in College Governance Committees, and other committees, task forces, sub-committees, and other activities as requested.
  • Assists in curriculum development and assessment of student learning outcomes.
  • Integrates computer technology into coursework, as appropriate.
  • Participates in enrollment and retention efforts, as appropraite.
REQUIRED:
  • Master\'s degree in Psychology;
  • Teaching experience at the college level;
  • Demonstrated ability and knowledge of varied pedagogical strategies;
  • ability to integrate technology into instruction;
  • Willingness to teach courses in a variety of modalities (e.g., on-campus, online);
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Commitment to and understanding of the community college mission;
  • Commitment to teaching a student body diverse in abilities, age, ethnicity, race, gender identity, and sexual orientation.
NOTE: A teaching demonstration will be a required part of the interview process.

PREFERRED:
  • Post-Masters credits or doctoral degree;
  • Experience and interest in teaching introductory level psychology courses;
  • Experience and interest in teaching specialized psychology courses appropriate to the applicant\'s area of expertise, ideally in the area of developmental psychology, though other areas would be considered;
  • Ability and interest in teaching core psychology courses (e.g., Information Literacy, Research Methods in Psychology, Statistics in Psychology);
  • Demonstrated proficiency in community college teaching.
Full-time, tenure-track MCCC/MTA position
Salary: Minimum $48,811-$57,366. Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Full State benefits.

Start Date: Fall, 2023
