PURPOSEThe Instructor Commission develops and presents instructional classes for the Parks and Recreation Department. Work hours will vary. This position reports to the Recreation Coordinator.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThis description is intended to indicate the essential functions and levels of work difficulty of the position and is not intended to describe in detail all of the position\'s specific duties and responsibilities nor exclude other duties of similar level or difficulty. Additionally, it is not intended to limit management\'s rights to assign, direct, and control the work of employees beyond the essential functions under their supervision.Interact and greet patrons, process transactions, and assist patrons.Utilize recreation management software to monitor activities and facilities, communicate with current/past participants, run reports for program and facility use, and other items as needed.Establish rapport with participants, facility patrons and the general public, respond to difficult situations and complaints, exercise independent judgement to recommend changes, correct and analyze public concerns and questions and resolve in a timely manner.Operate and maintain a variety of facility and program-related equipment and supplies to ensure that all programs, activities, and facilities operate at optimal levels.Assist the Recreation Coordinator in coordinating with groups to ensure that the recreation center and other facilities are utilized at the maximum level of efficiency, and that such facilities are adequately supervised and maintained during all activities and events.Develops instructional classes.Provides instruction to the Parks and Recreation Department and the public.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or equivalent. Note: An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered.
Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or border state driver\'s license, as defined by NRS 483.
Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check.SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATIONKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Work may be performed outdoors in cold, hot, or inclement weather.
