The VDH\'s CSP program is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and uses a data driven approach to reduce suicide morbidity and mortality in Vermont.
The analyst will support the CSP program by monitoring surveillance systems for suicide-related interactions, providing analysis of program metrics and assisting with data interpretation. Activities completed by this analyst include:
- identification and monitoring of location and population specific changes in non-fatal suicide-related circumstances and outcomes.
- development of data automation processes, data sharing dashboards, maps, hotspot analysis and key findings sharing through data briefs.
- quarterly analysis and reporting to the CDC.
- collaboration with hospital staff to improve data quality.
- adaptation of novel analyses and refinement of case definitions and methodologies to meet Vermont prevention needs.
- data presentations to programmatic and community partners.
Applicants should have a strong interest in improving data quality and accuracy of data reporting. They should be motivated to become the Department\'s subject matter expert in syndromic surveillance data related to non-fatal suicide related outcomes and intentional self-harm. The analyst will closely collaborate with the lead CSP data analyst, the injury epidemiology team, CSP program staff and other VDH syndromic surveillance analysts. They will have opportunities to work with national peers through syndromic surveillance and CSP networks and will participate in grant required calls and program meetings. All analysts are expected to work on multiple teams, including the Unit, other Divisions in VDH, and to collaborate on special topic workgroups. Expertise in Microsoft Office and statistical analysis software (SAS, SPSS, or R, etc.) is desired. Experience with python or ArcGIS preferred.
