  • Information Technology Specialist (Data Management): Grades GS-15
Duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Providing data management policy guidance and technical support, including all aspects of science data lifecycle sufficient to plan, acquire, process, analyze, preserve, curate, publish, share, document, manage quality, and secure data in support of policies and procedures.
  • Designing and coordinating protocols and procedures necessary for data management, data integration, publication of data and metadata, preserving and providing public access to scientific data, this includes overseeing the use of data management systems.
  • Assisting in monitoring data quality issues as they relate to user data products and collaborates with Informatics and Information Technology professionals to develop automated systems and tools to process, clean, and verify data integrity.
  • Providing expert technical advice and assistance on public health information systems within and outside of CDC and its constituents and serves as an agency expert in new and emerging information technology tools, platforms, and methods.
  • Providing consultation and advice on new information technologies to CDC organizations throughout the enterprise and CDC public health partners working on systems and information technologies that need to exchange data with CDC and/or interoperate.
  • Serving on federal working groups or committees involved in the review, evaluation, development, and standards setting for new technologies.
RequirementsConditions of EmploymentDue to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention\'s (CDC\'s) process enhancement to use Shared Certificates throughout the Agency, some of the requirements below may differ:

In addition to Basic Qualifications above, Minimum Qualifications must be met:To qualify at the GS-15 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level, which must include the following experience: developing Software-as-a-Service product, using agile software development methodologies; delivering technology to customers using a Cloud Service Provider; and using the human-centered design practical problem-solving method.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
