The role:
Join our team as the Public Transportation Division Administrator! In this role, you will represent and oversee public transportation program delivery. This position is a member of ODOT\xe2\x80\x99s agency leadership team which supports the statewide mission, goals and strategy for ODOT. In addition, this position oversees the Public Transportation Advisory Committee and the Rail Advisory Committee who are directly responsible to the Oregon Transportation Commission. A day in the life:
Primary contact for transportation committees, legislators and key ODOT staff.
Provide statewide rail and public transportation leadership through active representation and participation in forums, speaker panels and training sessions.
Develop state rail and public transportation goals through community and partner relationships, through leading development of modal and topic plans and through policy setting for state programs.
Provide decision-making and appointing authority for the policies and priorities of the programs, identification and approval of projects, appropriate partnership strategies, and project management from proposal, funding, delivery and continuing operations.
Identify and manage key advisory groups and division participation with other state agencies, advisory groups and advocacy groups throughout the state, northwest region and nationally.
Assist associations in promoting rail and public transportation interests to federal agencies, congressional committees and state legislative committees.
Responsible for the division programs and all elements of rail and public transportation and safety including enforcement, engineering and education to carry out rail and transportation projects ranging from $1M to $40 million.
Manage public transportation division key staff selection and development, work direction and performance evaluation.
Frequent statewide travel and occasional interstate travel to attend internal and external meetings is required, with some trips requiring overnight lodging.

Minimum qualifications:
Five years of management experience OR two years of management experience and a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a related field.

Five years\xe2\x80\x99 experience directing high-level management of both individuals and teams.
Five years\xe2\x80\x99 experience with management or program development specific to public transit, including but not limited to at least two of the following: bus, light rail, rail, high speed rail, bike, pedestrian program oversight.
Five years\xe2\x80\x99 experience developing and implementing public policy with preference given to applicants with experience implementing public transportation policy.
Five years\xe2\x80\x99 experience with public transportation funding, including knowledge of federal funding sources, federal funding requirements or understanding of public transit state funding mechanisms.
Five years\xe2\x80\x99 experience developing public sector budget and policy.
At least 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience working with elected officials including but not limited to governors, legislators and county and city elected officials.
