Job Description

NSTI specializes in telecom solutions for customers in the oil and gas industry and rural communities in Alaska. We are currently seeking a dedicated Quality Specialist to assist in the creation and maintenance of our companywide Quality Management System (QMS). This role will involve inspecting products, ensuring compliance with both company and legal standards. This role will monitor, inspect, and propose measures to correct or improve a company's final products and processes to meet established quality standards. Also, this position entails collaborating with various stakeholders across the organization, and excellent interpersonal skills are crucial. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively with peers, superiors, and industry professionals who have competing priorities. Meeting deadlines and driving the organization to deliver on commitments is paramount. The main responsibilities of the Quality Control Specialist will include providing quality assurance (QA) support to an assigned team. This a rotational positional at a remote location, 12 hour shifts, 7 days a week, 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off. As well as a commitment of at least 24 months of employment, followed by the possibility of permanent employment. Benefits are included.

Education and/or Experience:





4-year college degree preferred Prior experience in a quality control specialist role Quality management, assurance, or control certifications a plus +1 Experience in the telecom, electrical, or oil and gas industries beneficial

Essential Functions:





Conduct thorough tests and inspections of telecom system installations to include cables and equipment to ensure compliance with design, quality, and safety standards. Create and maintain test and inspection records, daily reports, and other quality-related documentation to meet or exceed company and customer requirements. Maintain a lessons-learned log and generate documentation to recommend corrective actions to improve processes. Generate punch list and KPIs for task management and client awareness. Perform field audits to promptly identify non-compliance issues. Continuously monitor telecom construction and installations to ensure good workmanship throughout the project. Stay up to date on customer, company, and industry standards and code requirements. Perform quality control on telecom installations on-site at customer locations. Review engineering drawing packages, materials tracking, and system installations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams of project managers, engineers, construction managers, and field installation teams. Interface efficiently and effectively with client and other project stakeholders using professional oral and written communication. Coordinate with customer commissioning and closeout team for system handover. Investigate root cause analysis of quality-related incidences, defects, or failures and rectify issues as needed. Full-time, two weeks on/two weeks off, rotational position to the North Slope through term

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:





Knowledge of and ability to work with strict adherence to ISO 9001 Familiarity with customer and NSTI processes and procedures Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations Familiarity with telecom equipment, cabling, and radio components Familiarity with industry installation standards, such as BICSI Strong attention to detail Ability to read and understand engineering drawing packages and schematics Proficiency using the Microsoft 365 suite, e.g., Word, Excel, and Teams Professional, efficient, and effective written and oral communication skills Able to work in a well in a close-knit team setting Can work outside in an Arctic environment Can use a small number of hand tools to perform job duties, such as a torque wrench Fit for duty: can lift up to 20 lbs., bend, kneel, sit, or stand as required Uphold NSTI's mission statement, code of ethics, and safety culture

Successful candidates must:





Be at least 18 years old Possess active valid Driver's License Pass a pre-employment DOT drug & alcohol screening with on-going program participation. Pass fitness testing Pass Background Check Be able to fulfil rotational assignments by travel within state of Alaska approx. 75%-100%

No Telecommuting. Tasks must be performed at NSTI or Customer site location(s).
