is recruiting for a Records and Licensing Supervisor located in Juneau!
What you will be doing:
The Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development, Division of Corporations, Business, and Professional Licensing, is recruiting for a Records and Licensing Supervisor. The duty station is located in Juneau. Teleworking opportunities are available for this position.

Working in this position you will be responsible for the recruitement, training and direct supervision of 4-5 occupational licensing examiners that work primarily for the construction contractor licensing programs. You will have oversight of the work product of examiners to ensure adherence to state, federal, and board requirements.

The working environment you can expect:
The official duty station is located in our main office in Juneau on the 9th floor of the State Office Building. Our office has recently updated furnishings and is centrally located in downtown Juneau. Telework opportunities are available for eligible employees.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of journey technical experience applying statutes and regulations to examine and approve or deny documents submitted for permits, licensure, or filing with the State. The required experience includes work such as Business Registration Examiner, Occupational Licensing Examiner, and Insurance Licensing Examiner 2, and Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative 2, or similar job classes with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.

OR

Two years of clerical supervisory experience that includes overseeing a work unit of two or more clerical positions at the journey level or higher with responsibility for one or more of the following: employing, disciplining, discharging, or adjudicating employee grievances. The required experience includes, but is not limited to, work such as Office Assistant 4 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.

OR

Three years of clerical lead experience that includes leading the work of a unit with two or more clerical positions at the journey level or higher and responsibility and authority for one or more of the following actions: assigning work, setting task priorities, checking quality of work, evaluating performance, and instructing and training employees. The required experience includes, but is not limited to, work such as Office Assistant 3 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.

Substitution:
Education from an accredited college (3 semester or 4 quarter hours equals one month) in any field may substitute for the required journey technical experience. There is no substitution for the clerical supervisory or lead work experience.

**Classification Study Notice**
This position is currently under review as part of the Licensing Specialist Study; therefore, the title and/or pay range currently assigned may be subject to change upon implementation of this class study.

At time of interview applicant(s) are requested to submit:

  • Copies of your three (3) most recent performance evaluations.
