DescriptionEssential Functions:Maintains a safe and clean environment
Plans and schedules programs, instructs one or more phases of a recreational program, and ensures that equipment and facilities are properly usedExamples of DutiesExamples of Work:UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION
Assists participants with the activities of daily care; including hygiene, mobility, feeding, and toileting
Transports participants and employees to and from events
Coordinates and plans recreational activities for a center or special groups such as the handicapped or senior citizens
Keeps records of attendance, accidents, vandalism and special projects to prepare summaries
Works with supervisor in developing new programs and the preparation of the budget for center's activities or specific programs
Checks equipment and ensures equipment is properly maintained
Organizes and directs various groups with special interests such as physical fitness, home economics and other activities
Coordinates activities with school officials to provide recreational activities for students in the center
Teaches fundamentals of various recreational activities to center staff
Coaches amateurs in athletics, dramatic presentations and other recreational activities
Assists in organizing athletic teams and leagues
Arranges the use of recreational equipment and facilities and distributes equipment
Officiates adult athletic leagues by arranging schedules and umpiring games
Performs related workMinimum RequirementsPhysical Requirement & Working Conditions:Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
Lifts and carries items weighing up to 70 pounds
Lifts and carries items weighing over 70 pounds in a team setting
Spends prolonged periods of time exposed to the elementsMinimum Requirements:Two years of college
At least 15 college semester hours in:
Physical Education
OR
Recreation
Related field
One year of recreation program experienceOther Minimums:Must be available to work a varied schedule; including evenings and weekends
