The purpose of this position is to assist inscheduling, coordinating, and planning the usage and services of the Ocoee Lakeshore Center and other City operated centers and facilities under the management of the Parks and Recreation Department. The employee in this position will perform semi-skilled, manual work relating to the operation and management of assigned centers and facilities. Work in this position may include office assistance, event set up and event supervision. The work may at times be moderately difficult and physical, and requires independent judgment in the operation, maintenance, and supervision of the facilities. Work is performed under the direction of the Event Leader or the Director of Parks and Recreation.

Receives and reviews reservation requests; schedules meetings; confirms centers and facilities schedules and services with clients. Serves as a facility representative at events; facilitates pre and post-event walk through to assess facility condition; enforce facility policies and procedures throughout each event; identify and resolve event challenges; resolve public complaints. Communicate and meet with facility customers on event days and assist in determining event needs. Assist with the set-up, changes/adjustment, and breakdown of room rental equipment and furniture according to rental agreements. Responsible for the proper upkeep, maintenance, and care of buildings and facilities assigned and facilities content. Open and close facilities for event patrons and as required. During event, monitor and effectively handle event related activities in and outside of the building. At conclusion of events, breakdown and store tables, chairs and electronic equipment, remove trash from rooms and kitchen, and assist with light custodial duties as needed. Inspect tables, chairs, room, kitchen and electronic equipment to assure for proper operating. Prepares reports and other records, including, but not limited to daily and other periodic reports assigned to this work classification, equipment operations and maintenance reports, and damage reports. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED equivalent; with previous experience in recreation, special events, arts, social and/ or related activities preferred; or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience. Possession and maintenance of a valid Florida Driver's License.


Supplemental Information

Knowledge of effective customer service practices.



Knowledge of business English, spelling and punctuation, in order to prepare documents and reports, etc.



Ability to perform manual labor, including light custodial work.



Ability to read and understand diagrams or layouts, and apply to event set-up.



Ability to work with people of all ages through friendly, outgoing, tactful, and strong communications skills with an emphasis on listening.



Ability to respond to difficult and stressful situations in an efficient, effective, diplomatic and positive manner.



Ability to perform assigned tasks with diplomacy, discretion, and courtesy, and to exercise discretion and good judgment in the resolution of problems.



Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions, and work independently in carrying out assignments to completion.



Ability to clearly communicate information both verbally and in writing.



Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental personnel, supervisors and the general public.



Ability to operate basic office equipment, e.g., computers, printers, copy machines, telephone systems, facsimile machines, scanners.



Ability to exercise sound judgment, and enforce policies, procedures, and regulations of the area of assignment.



Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records.



Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
