How you will spend your days as a Regional Credit Manager:
  • Manage the MSA Credit Team Leads/Division Credit Managers/supervisors and staff to direct the AR/Credit processes. Reporting lines are dotted between these credit leads with direct reporting through the local PGMs.
  • Develop and maintain good communication between credit and Regional/Divisional leadership about AR/Credit performance and processes.
  • Evaluate and Approve/Deny Credit extensions (in coordination with the Regional VP and US LBM Director of Credit (\xe2\x80\x9cDOC\xe2\x80\x9d) that fall outside division-level authority or where a conflict exists at the division level between credit/management.
  • Provides monthly AR Aging recaps and performance reports as requested by the DOC.
  • Review AR portfolios monthly as per US LBM internal controls guidelines or as needed with each division to identify risk and collection activity and communicate or direct communication of serious concerns to Operation management, Regional VP, and US LBM DOC.
  • Responds promptly to all Division management and sales team requests about Credit-AR requests or issues.
  • Direct and support Divisions on serious collection matters, including lien and legal/collection placement and settlement negotiations.
  • Promote an atmosphere of continuous improvement by reviewing and improving processes and sharing best practices.
  • Work with US LBM DOC to establish, maintain and update sound AR policies/procedures and standards for use across all of the US LBM family of companies.
  • Responsible for month-end, year-end close, and audit activities related to A/R as requested.
  • Supports audit by managing the preparation and accumulation of requested items by external auditors.
  • Conduct and compile reviews of Quarterly Bad Debt and Reserves as submitted by the divisions and communicate and prepare calculations for any special reserve increases as needed.
  • Assist the US LBM DOC in reviewing the AR and Reserves budgets for the Region.
  • Develops and updates system procedures related to AR.
  • Perform Reviews periodically to ensure adherence to AR/Credit Policies and procedures.
  • Ensure processes and procedures adhere to all Federal, State, and Local Credit and Collection laws.
  • Work with credit staff to develop best practices and share duties concerning local market relationships across division lines.
  • Establish goals for your teams around AR Collections that align with the overall budgetary, AR performance, and working capital goals.
  • Assist in recruiting and training new staff as needed.
  • Complete special projects as needed.

  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in business or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years experience in business credit and collection process. 5 years supervisory experience. Experience working in a construction/building supply preferred.
  • Effective in strategic business planning and relationship building.
  • Efficient verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated presentation skills are required, including the ability to work with many different levels of management.
  • Must lead by example with excellent interpersonal and motivational skills. Promote quality, safety, and continuous process improvement. Must have employee developmental skills.
  • Special knowledge required\xe2\x80\x94Legal compliance and lien laws relating to the collection of debts.
  • Other\xe2\x80\x94 Proficient computer skills such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc. are necessary.
  • Ability to travel is necessary.
  • Physical demands include lifting up to 25 lbs. randomly, standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods, and bending or stooping.
