Job Description


Position: Regional Program Director, Midwest Food Connect is a nonprofit organization committed to bridging the gaps in our food system to create healthier communities. We\'re dedicated to leveraging technology and community efforts for a more thoughtful, sustainable, and connected food system. Our aim is to build solutions that facilitate collaboration and increase efficiencies in food distribution for better health outcomes. The Program Director role entails overseeing and managing programs and projects in the Midwest. It\'s a remote position, with some travel required to key program locations in the Midwest. The Program Director collaborates closely with the National Director of Programs and Logistics to develop, implement, and manage food programs supporting the organization\'s mission and goals. The role is based in the Kansas City area, requiring on-the-ground community engagement in and around Kansas City. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with experience in establishing footholds in new markets and building small, high-performing teams. Responsibilities Program Management:

  • Oversee and manage existing programs and projects, ensuring alignment with the organization\'s strategic plan and mission.
  • Provide high-level oversight of program daily operations in the region, collaborating with the Dispatch Operations Manager.
  • Develop program and project budgets, timelines, and evaluation plans in collaboration with the National Director of Programs and Logistics.
  • Support the development and implementation of evaluation plans to measure program effectiveness.
  • Conduct research and provide support on various program-related topics, including best practices and trends.
  • Facilitate regular program meetings with partner organizations and provide meeting recaps when necessary.
  • Prepare, update, and maintain program databases, records, and related documents.
  • Review and approve program invoices, managing timely communications with the accounting team.
  • Create an annual donor stewardship plan to sustain surplus food donation streams.
  • Develop and disseminate quarterly program and food donor impact reports in collaboration with the Data Analyst.
  • Generate program contracts and oversee contract renewal processes.
Partnership Development:
  • Create target program prospect lists by researching and contacting new leads.
  • Schedule partnership prospect meetings and conduct regular follow-ups for desired outcomes.
  • Develop relationships with stakeholders at related nonprofit organizations, government offices, educational institutions, etc., and pursue collaboration opportunities.
  • Participate in regional professional groups, advisory councils, nonprofit boards, and conferences to explore and develop partnerships.
  • Manage new partnership/program onboarding processes for successful integration into daily operations.
  • Collaborate on national partnership cultivation strategies with other Regional Program Directors and the National Director of Programs and Logistics.
  • Support the Development and Impact team by developing relationships with potential funders and corporations to generate fundraising strategies.
Regional Expansion Planning:
  • Analyze existing programs, food rescue trends, and food as medicine best practices to inform strategic growth opportunities in the region.
  • Create a multi-year growth strategy to expand surplus food donations and meals initiative programming in collaboration with the National Director of Programs and Logistics.
  • Manage and implement food donor and partner solicitation strategies, tracking and documenting outcomes and impact.
  • Align regional growth strategies with fundraising activities to ensure program sustainability.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure alignment with the organization\'s strategic plan and mission.
Candidate Qualifications and Traits:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in a related field preferred but not required.
  • Experience in a related field preferred but not required.
  • Proven ability to multitask.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and communication skills.
  • Desire to provide high-quality customer service.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite.
  • Must have a personal laptop with a stable broadband connection.
  • A people person passionate about making a difference.
Workdays and Times
  • Monday - Friday from 9 am \xe2\x80\x93 5 pm CST
Compensation
  • Salary $70,000-$80,000 per year based on experience
