Job Summary and Qualifications

• This is a Full Time Night shift position, 7:00pm - 7:00am *

Utilizing the standards set forth for Nursing Practice by the ANA, the RN will organize, modify, evaluate, document and maintain the plan of care for adult and geriatric Med Surg and Critical Care patients to include individualized, family centered, holistic, supportive, and safe care. The Float Pool RN will float to various units as needed such as Med Surg, ICU, or ER. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Uses therapeutic communication in daily practice.
• Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment of care.
• Implements and direct care, using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of individual patients.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of the nursing process.
• Provides emotional support of the patient and significant others to make informed choices regarding health care
• Maintains high quality, age specific care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients as assigned
• Delegates tasks appropriately.
• Provides supervision of new employees, vocational nurses, nurse technicians, student nurses, and / or nurse interns.

What qualifications you will need:

• Associates degree required, BSN preferred. Must obtain BSN within 24 months of hire.
• Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of TX or from a compact state if you declare the Compact State your primary state of residence required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire issued through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Minimum 1-2 years MedSurg experience in a hospital setting in the last three years

• Experience in PCU or with high acuity ICU/ER patients preferred
