UNIT SUMMARY: Progressive Care Unit: Progressive Care is moving to 48 beds; a cardiac telemetry unit for patients with diagnoses such as chest pain, congestive heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias, or who require preoperative and postoperative care for catheterization. This is a very fast-paced unit that can have as many as 15 discharges and admissions per day. The daily routine for nurses on this unit consists of bedside shift reports, assessments, hourly rounding, phlebotomies, IV insertions, patient education and more. During daily accountable care unit rounding, physicians, nurses, case management/social workers, and members of the pharmacy team collaborate and discuss the care plans of patients. Staff members on this unit pride themselves on an autonomous nursing practice setting and strongly value communication, collaboration and teamwork.

JOB SUMMARY: Provides safe, age-appropriate patient care, and functions as advisor and resource for patients and their families as a member of the patient care team.

REQUIREMENTS:

BSN or ASN with 2+ years of experience required.

Working knowledge of theory and practice within a specialized field.

Maryland RN license.

American Heart Association CPR certification.

Specialty certification preferred.

Microsoft Office Suite; Basic computer skills; Cerner; Healthstream; Standard Office Equipment.

Medical terminology: Nursing Process skills based on MD Nurse Practice Act.
