Job Summary and Qualifications

The Progressive Care Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care. In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care. The RN serves as an advocate for patients to support an unparalleled patient experience.

Cardiac & Pulmonary Stepdown nurses are the master coordinators of the unit, juggling care for their patients while keeping the entire health care team on the same page. They have high-level critical thinking skills, vast clinical knowledge, and are able to stay calm under pressure. You will be working with patients on ventilators, with chest tubes, trachs, and diseases of the lungs.

About this unit:
  • 18 private rooms.
  • Ratios 1-4:-5 with Patient Care Tech Support.
  • Common diagnosis/Procedure: Congestive Heart Failure, Tikosyn & Sotalol admissions, Pace maker placement, EP procedures, Cardiac Catherization without interventions.
  • Dedicated team committed to maintaining excellence in care of the cardiac patient through continuing education and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities:
  • Under the general direction of the Director, coordinates and provides patient care and assumes individual responsibility and accountability for the provision of nursing care.
  • Nursing care is provided in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, applicable state Nursing Practice Acts, ANA Standards of Practice, and the generic and unit structure standards.
  • Adult patients between 18 to 64 years; and geriatric patients 65 years and older.
  • Adaptable and flexible with the ever-changing acuity and census. Assignments may change according to the census or change of acuity in the patient.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. BSN preferred.
  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain BCLS and ACLS certification required.
  • No previous experience required other than clinical rotations required as part of the degree completion. Prior experience in a similar size facility with similar services provided is preferred.
This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
