Emergency Room Registered Nurses (ER RNs) are responsible for providing acute and emergency care to patients who are experiencing life-threatening or potentially life-threatening conditions. They work in high-stress, fast-paced environments and must be able to think critically and make quick decisions to ensure patient safety and wellbeing. Some specific tasks of an ER RN include:
1. Assessing patients\' conditions, including taking vital signs, history, and performing physical exams
2. Developing and implementing individualized care plans for patients, including administering medications and treatments
3. Monitoring patients for changes in condition and taking appropriate action as needed
4. Collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to diagnose and treat patients
5. Operating and monitoring medical equipment, such as IV pumps and cardiac monitors
6. Keeping accurate records of patient care and communicating with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care
7. Providing education and emotional support to patients and their families
Education and certification requirements for ER RNs include a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state where they work. Many ER RNs also obtain certifications, such as Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), to enhance their skills and qualifications for working in emergency care environments.
This is a not full time but contracted travel position.

Our rural ED has 9 beds and sees over 14k patients per year.NVRH is located in Vermont s historic Northeast Kingdom, a region known for its unspoiled beauty and four season recreational activities. A not-for-profit independent hospital, NVRH provides primary and preventive care, surgical and specialty services, inpatient and outpatient care, and 24-hour physician-staffed emergency services.*Current VT or compact multi state RN License, BLS, ACLS required.*Minimum 3 years ER RN experience required. ??TNCC preferred.NVRH uses Meditech - must be familiar with or able learn quickly.Credentialing must be uploaded no later than 3 business days prior to traveler start.
