Unit Highlights
Nurses on Unit 2NE (Medical CCU) care for the acutely ill, medical cardiac complex patient. Most of the patients arrive directly from the Cath or EP lab, status post an acute cardiac event. As an ICU, the 2NE patient population includes management of the patient who has often just had a recent Myocardial Infarction, Cardiac Rhythm disturbance or Advanced Heart Failure. They are either being stabilized pre-procedure or returning from the Cath or EP lab, having undergone an interventional procedure such as a cardiac catheterization, percutaneous angioplasty, TAVR, pacemaker or defibrillator insertion.

This 30 bed ICU is a great place to become an expert medical critical care nurse. Here you will be exposed to a variety of specialized procedural nursing skills. The CCU Clinical Nurses are highly skilled, motivated, and committed to professional excellence.

They strive to provide safe, quality care by maintaining a patient-centered approach. As well as our patients, we benefit from a multi-disciplinary, collaborative team approach, including Residents/Fellows, Advanced Practice Providers, Respiratory Therapy and PT/OT.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Delivers proficient nursing care to patients and families whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex.
• Identifies current and potential complex problems of specific patient populations.
• Critically analyzes trends and changes in patient status, and plans appropriate interventions directly or indirectly through other nurses.

Minimum Qualifications
Education

• ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing required.

Experience

• Prior Clinical Nursing experience preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

• Active DC RN License and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required.
