Responsibilities
Do you crave a little variety in your career? The variety of work in Neuro/Peds/Trauma is second only to the diversity of patients we see. Our nurses care for all patient populations - from pediatric to geriatrics - and for a variety of diagnoses including: General medical (such as pneumonia, congestive heart failure, and sepsis) Traumas, Neurological and Neurosurgical Pediatrics. Our staff of more than 100 Registered Nurses and Patient Care Associates is split into three distinct units with opportunities to cross train, adding more variety to your career. In addition to the 14 beds in Neuro/Peds/Trauma, our department cares for patients in a 20-bed observation unit, as well as a 6-bed Progressive Care Unit. Lastly, the NWWI Region Video Monitoring service is housed on our department and our Patient Care Associates assist in monitoring these patients. Nurses often ask \'what\'s it like to work on your unit?\' We let them know that it\'s fast paced and that we often care for highly-acute patients but the camaraderie of the team and successful outcomes make it rewarding for processionals who are dynamic and adaptable. Our staff would tell you that it\'s a culture of collaboration, teamwork and positive attitudes that keep them excited about the work they do.
