Summary

UNIT SUMMARY: The Stroke Medical Unit is a 40-bed unit that specializes in the care of geriatric patients and offers an interdisciplinary approach to respiratory care. The Stroke Medical Unit is a designated stroke unit. Staff members must utilize strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, implement clinical nursing interventions to modify symptoms, and develop and implement patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes. Special training on how to care for patients on vents and how to respond to different alarms on the unit is required.

JOB SUMMARY: Provides safe, age-appropriate patient care, and functions as advisor and resource for patients and their families as a member of the patient care team. Works under the direct supervision and direction of the Nurse Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate\'s degree (2 years college); requires knowledge of a specialized field.
• Bachelor\'s of Nursing preferred from CCNE accredited schools.
• Less than 1 year of experience. Maryland Registered Nurse License.
• American Heart Association CPR Certification, BLS Certification.
