Research Faculty Position in Computational Ophthalmology

The UT Southwestern Department of Ophthalmology is seeking applicants for a research faculty position in computational ophthalmology, a new position created as a key component of our ambitious research expansion strategy. Candidates should have training and experience in the development and implementation of computational, machine learning and/or artificial intelligence approaches to address basic and/or clinical research problems in ophthalmology. Research areas of interest may include bioinformatics, deep learning, next generation sequencing, clinical image analysis, data visualization, and clinical epidemiology. We are particularly interested in applicants who can leverage their expertise in these areas to form strong collaborative relationships with other vision scientists at UTSW as well as faculty within the Lyda Hill Department of Bioinformatics.

The successful applicant will benefit from the highly collaborative UTSW scientific community and , and will be encouraged to obtain a joint appointment in a basic science department. Candidates will have the opportunity to assume a leadership role in developing a world class program in mathematical and computational ophthalmology. Significant endowment support and programmatic development funds are available for the qualified applicant.

Candidates should possess a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree. They may be full-time scientists or clinician-scientists. Those intending to engage in patient care must be eligible to obtain a Texas Medical License. Appointment and rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.
