GENERAL SUMMARY:

Summary:

Manages research and quality improvement projects for all Graduate Medical Education Programs, including human subject research. Guides Principal Investigator (PI) and residents in all aspects of conducting trials including research study design, protocol feasibility, protocol development, IRB application, protocol budgetary preparation and compliance to all research protocols.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Assists PI with research study design and development of research protocol. Assists with the implementation of and adherence to study protocols.
2. Educate faculty and residents on established policies, processes, and procedures.
3. Collaborates with PI, sponsor, and research staff to plan, conduct, and evaluate project protocols, including research subject recruitment
4. Determines effective strategies for promoting/recruiting research participants and retaining participants in long-term clinical trials as needed.
5. Develop consent forms for approval by Human Subjects Panel.
6. Monitor Institutional Review Board submissions and respond to requests and questions. Coordinates new protocol submissions, renewals, and revisions to Institutional Review Board for multiple studies. Completes annual reports to Institutional Review Board and other regulatory agencies as required.
7. Provide leadership and expertise in identifying and completing research grants.
8. Oversee financial resources, as needed, create internal and external budgets for research protocols, assure financial accountability, and serve as primary liaison between sponsor, department accounting, and researcher.
9. Assist with analysis of data and preparation of manuscripts and scientific presentations. Guides the development of data capture and monitoring plans to maintain quality.
10. Assist in the development and maintenance of research tools, such as spreadsheets, questionnaires and/or brochures.
11. All other duties as assigned within scope and range of job responsibilities.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL:

• Education Bachelor Degree

Related field

• Credential Human Subjects Research

EXPERIENCE:

Required: 3 years of clinical research experience

Preferred: 5+ years of clinical research experience

Experience in a healthcare setting preferred

Undergraduate work experience that demonstrates aptitude for research facilitation

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL:

• Education Master Degree
