Purpose of the Position:

The Research Scientist will provide geospatial and information technology assistance and specialization for the Inter Agency Implementation and Advanced Concepts Team (IMPACT) within the Lab for Applied Science (LAS) under the Earth Systems Science Center. The candidate will be expected to work on data science issues in research and operational frameworks.



Duties/Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive research and develop and implement models across multiple projects. Generate reports, and communicate in written and oral format with UAH and NASA IMPACT team members. Supervise student employees, GRAs, junior level employees Present at major conferences. Write peer-reviewed publications. Write reports as needed

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, 5.5 years of full-time verifiable work experience, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience Experience in developing analytic and large language models Excellent communication skills Experience in Machine learning models and convolution neural networks in atmosphere science or heliophysics Proven record of peer-reviewed publication record

Desired Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field Proposal writing experience
