This is a research position, PI for RECOVER grant is seeking a candidate who will interpret medical records of decedents to find cases that match the study criteria for Post Acute Sequela of COVID (PASC) and Long COVID. The Researcher will apply their knowledge of the RECOVER autopsy protocol to screen each new death at UAB Hospital for eligibility for the RECOVER autopsy study. The Researcher will work with the attending autopsy pathologists to contact the next of kin of eligible cases to explain the study and possibly obtain consent for participation in the study. The Researcher will use knowledge of each case to write a clinical history. The Researcher may be asked to assist with specimen collection during and after the autopsy. The Researcher may be required to enter data into an on-line database for the study.

Duties and Responsibilities





Review the electronic health record of UAB patients who die to determine if they qualify for enrollment in the UAB NIH sponsored RECOVER (Researching COVID to Enhance Recovery) autopsy tissue pathology study.

Enter data from each UAB autopsy participant into the on-line RECOVER database.

Assist in collection of specimens including tissue and fluid from autopsies.

Perform other duties as assigned


Annual Salary Range: $50,050 - $81,330



Qualifications


Master's degree in Pathology or a related field OR Bachelor's degree in Pathology or a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR Associate's degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience required or High School diploma or GED and six (6) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
