The Residential Behavioral Health Associate (RES BHA) for the Transitional Program is primarily responsible for interaction with/supervision of adolescents with complex needs who are at risk while living in their community and are placed in level 2 residential treatment unit. RBHA will help teach transitional age youth:

  • Prepare youth for independent living through individual and group activities.
The RES BHA adheres to standards and regulations as set forth by the Agency, the state of Alaska\xe2\x80\x99s Division of Behavioral Health and Division of Health Care Services, The Joint Commission and Medicaid. The RES BHA duties are carried out in accordance with AK Child & Family policies, the AK Child & Family Mission, Core Values and AK Child & Family Philosophy of Care. While bringing hope to troubled young lives through a broad range of mental health services. While providing vital services to adolescents you will be gaining new skills or refining old skills. As you progress and your skills improve, you will have opportunities to take on additional challenges as a Residential Behavioral Health Specialist. Pay:
  • $18.00/hour+ DOE
  • 3% pay increase after successful completion of 6-month Intro Period.





Supervision and Coordination of Services:

  • The RES BHA is supervised by the Treatment Program Supervisor.
  • Under the supervision of the Treatment Program Supervisor, RES BHAs are responsible for implementing appropriate treatment strategies with the students, timely documentation, cleaning duties, cooking duties, psycho-educational groups, and physical activities.





Qualifications:



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • The Residential Behavioral Health Associate must demonstrate the ability to work effectively with youth and families with complex needs.
  • Must have the ability to engage in vigorous physical and recreational activities.
  • S/he must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to use computer and navigate an electronic health record.
  • The position requires a valid Alaska Driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.
  • The Transitional Program RES BHA must demonstrate an understanding and sensitivity to serving a culturally diverse/and or special needs population.
Education and experience:
  • The RES BHA must have a high school diploma or general educational development diploma.
  • Experience in residential treatment for children, inpatient long-term treatment for children, or other treatment of severely emotionally disturbed children is preferred.
  • Must by 21 or older.





Physical Demands:



The Residential Behavioral Health Associate must be able to:
  • Drive and transport students in AK Child & Family vehicles
  • Efficiently access AK Child & Family and community buildings for meetings and agency activities in order to perform all job responsibilities
  • Physically manage students, according to AK Child & Family physical management policy
  • Move quickly throughout living unit and outdoor area in order to monitor/supervise student activities, alarm systems, emergency procedures, lighting, etc.
  • Legibly produce reports regarding students and cottage events
  • Transport self within the Anchorage Borough to meet with schools, families, and other involved parties
  • Teach students independent living skills, e.g., cooking, laundry, cleaning; participate in the maintenance of a clean living unit and grounds (shoveling/sweeping snow, raking, picking up trash, etc.)
  • Pick-up, carry and store groceries, household and program items
  • Supervise and participate in recreational and leisure time activities.
