  • Provides respiratory care including therapeutic treatments, management, diagnostic testing, control and care of persons with deficiency and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system under the direction of a physician and/or by prescription. May serve in a relief Lead capacity.
Responsibilitieso Carries out the orders of physician or physician assistant relating to respiratory care. o Provides therapeutic and diagnostic services including medical gas delivery i.e. oxygen therapy, humidity, and aerosols along with the maintenance of these apparatus. o Administers respiratory therapy treatments including medication, hyperinflation therapy, small volume neubulizers, chest physical therapy, incentive spirometry, and sputum inductions, in accordance with established policies and procedures. o Utilizes and provides airway management techniques in emergent and non-emergent situations that insure safe and effective patient care practices. o Provides bronchial hygiene therapies, breathing exercises and other respiratory rehabilitation procedures. o Sets up, monitors, troubleshoots and maintains non-invasive mechanical ventilators including appropriate mask fits and ventilator settings for safe and effective patient care practices. o Utilizes techniques for testing to assist in diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment including the measurement of ventilator volumes, pressures and flows, collection of blood and other specimens, blood gas analysis, testing of pulmonary functions, hemodynamic and other related physiological monitory of the cardiopulmonary system. o Monitors patient\'s physiological responses to therapy, and utilizes document documentation standards to communicate all pertinent data and therapy information. o Responds to all emergency situations up to including code blue. o Consults with physician regarding adverse reactions, patient status and alternatives to care. o Participates in department quality improvement projects such as patient chart reviews as requested by Manager. o Assist the physician during bronchoscopy and conscious sedation procedures. o May assist during C-sections or any high-risk delivery. o May fill in as a Relief Lead Therapist: 15. Upon orientation and training and can function as a relief Lead Therapist 16. The Relief Lead provides leadership to the shift by developing initial and on-going work assignments 17. Acting as a clinical resource 18. Assist in orienting and training new and subordinate staff 19. Makes operational decisions for the department in the absence of the manager o Performs other related duties as assigned.Qualifications
  • Required: o Respiratory license as a Practitioner of Respiratory Care issued by the state of Nevada. o Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) with RRT eligibility acceptable. o Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers certification. o NRP certifications required within 90 days of hire for all Full or Part time employees. o Blood Gas Technologist license issued by the state of Nevada required within 90 days of hire. Preferred: o American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. o American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. o For a Per Diem employee, NRP certification.
