UNIT AND HOSPITAL SUMMARY:
This unit is a 16-bed cardiovascular/cardiothoracic care unit. This unit\xe2\x80\x99s primary specialty is post-open heart/CABG patients. Post-op CABG patients will recover in the ICU for 2-3 days. The patient population will include patients that have a cardiac procedure requiring ICU level care. Open-heart patients direct from the OR, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, TAVR procedure, and STEMI intervention. Nurses will care for patients requiring ventilator support, special training on SWAN-GANZ catheters, vasopressors, inotrope drips, high alert drips, intra-aortic balloon pumps, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), IMPELLA devices, and chest tubes. Nurse to patient ratio 1:2 for regular ICU patients, high acute 1:1; there are times we may need you to be 1:3 depending on staffing needs and the acuity in the unit as a whole.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
In this role the Registered Nurse, under the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles. The Registered Nurse provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Beaumont policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: * Applies the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and discharge needs of patient/family/significant other.
