Caregivers in the 4 North Postpartum Unit specialize in caring for patients during the period after childbirth. This team helps patients navigate through major body and emotional changes while also monitoring for symptoms or severe conditions.A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00PM - 7:30AM.A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide direct nursing care
• Implement and monitor patient care plans
• Monitor, record and communicate patientsxe2x80x99 conditions.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patientsxe2x80x99 discharge needs.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Two years of recent related nursing experience OR internal applicants with less than two years of experience but post-orientation/90-day probationary period OR military RN experience

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

• Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
• Standing and walking for extended periods of time
• Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
• Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
• Medium Work, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• Physical Demand requirements in excess of those for Light Work

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
