Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day ShiftDescription: This position is eligible for a $5,000.00 referral bonus through Trinity Health Referral Rewards.Position Purpose:The surgery department at Mount Carmel Dublin will have four operating rooms, a GI procedural room, a non-invasive cardiac lab, and a cardiac and interventional radiology suite. Multiple service lines will be supported at this campus including robotics, general, GYN, urology and orthopedics while focusing on exceptional patient experience and evidence-based practice. As operations ramp up, there will be a limited call requirement initially. This campus will provide great surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurse leaders that display excellent teamwork and collaboration. The schedule is 4 10-hour shifts plus on-call.The Registered Nurse RN, within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, will provide care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person's physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs. The Registered Nurse RN, collaborates in the spirit of teamwork is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of the Organization. The expanded functions unique to the RN First Assistant during surgical intervention are to assume responsibility in advanced surgical assisting skills such as providing exposure, tissue handling, suturing, providing hemostasis, and using surgical instruments.This position will be hired to staff Mount Carmel Dublin. While construction is underway, the majority of training will take place at Mount Carmel St. Ann's located at 500 S Cleveland Ave, Westerville, OH 43081. We are expecting Mount Carmel Dublin to open Spring of 2025.What you will do:

• Provides nursing care, ensures an environment of patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives and exhibits professionalism in nursing practice within the model of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program .
• Assesses and evaluates patient care for an assigned group of patients, utilizing evidence based practice. Collaborates with patient and family to develop and implement a plan of care that includes physical, spiritual and educational components.
• Accurately communicates pertinent information to appropriate team members in a timely manner. Keeps patient/family apprised/updated.
• Documents accurately and completely pertinent assessments, interventions and outcomes for patients in accordance with documentation standards, policies, procedures and/or guidelines.
• Assumes responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed care givers as appropriate.
• Demonstrates the following skills: manual dexterity in appropriate use of surgical instrumentation, hemostasis, electrosurgery, bipolar cautery, sponging, clamping, collagens, bone wax, other, suturing skills, knot-tying, stapling, cutting, ligating, vessels, skin closure, sub-cuticular closure, and securing wound drains.
• Ensure that any specialty items needed for the surgical procedure are procured and that staff is in-services on the item.
• Stay current with all quality and safety indicators for the perioperative department.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate from school of nursing.
• Licensure / Certification: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Current CNOR certification.
• Completion of an RNFA course and internship that meets the criteria established by AORN for RN First Assistant programs.
• Minimum 2 years of diversified OR experience.
