Summary

The RN is an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team who functions in an autonomous manner utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care of patients. The RN must apply current nursing knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to provide for the well-being of the individual and the family. The nurse provides care in accordance with Cigna Medical Group policies, procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, and the standards of professional nursing practice. The RN serves as a resource for internal and external customers by utilizing a number of resources such as established Cigna policies, protocols, and guidelines to ensure delivery of high-quality care. The RN utilizes knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills needed to assess, provide, and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age patients.

Hours Typically Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm (work site dependent)

Provide each patient with an exceptional customer experience by greeting them with a warm welcome and smile as they enter the healthcare setting. Maintain eye contact. Communicate with patients promptly and efficiently using words the patient understands; keep the patient informed of delays in service and/or clinician wait times. Provides immediate service recovery and work to exceed patient/customer expectations surrounding resolution of concerns. Anticipate patient\xe2\x80\x99s stated and unstated needs. Talk with them in depth so you understand what the patient truly needs. Provides explanations and support to meet those needs. Consistently keep personal conversations private and out of the work environment. Patient information is consistently maintained in a private and secure manner, complying with HIPAA Guidelines at all times. Consistently thanks the patient for allowing Cigna Medical Group to provide their healthcare and ask if there is anything else we can do for them during their visit.

Clinical Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Yearly skills checklists, med observations if still needed Assistance in onboarding process and new hire training for department.
  • Participate in preparing agenda and present at staff meetings Standing orders- print and have providers sign off, maintain books Assist in resolving customer complaints when appropriate
  • Create weekly team schedules to ensure adequate coverage for business hours, including lunches and breaks.
  • Approve PTO requests to fit business needs. Work with the supervisors as needed to resolve day to day scheduling issues or changes. Conduct weekly department meetings to keep staff informed of any changes in regard to policy and/or procedure updates.
  • Collaborate with other department leads at least biweekly to identify potential areas of improvement. Make recommendations based on expertise and experience to develop process improvement to optimize workflow and improve patient satisfaction. Provide supervisor with updates as needed regarding any changes to workflow which outline potential business impact.
  • Work with the supervisor to conduct periotic audits on quality assurance and compliance. Perform quarterly department compliance audits as outlined by policy and procedure and Health Care Center Review requirements.
  • Act as a resource for the team regarding policies and procedures as related to your department. Emphasize, demonstrate, promote, and adhere to excellent customer service skills including professionalism, confidentiality and appropriate work etiquette while holding staff accountable to the same expectation.
  • Provide feedback to supervisor of any unresolved conflicts or performance issues. Assist in performing bi-annual evaluations for team members. Attend all meetings as required. Provides up-to-date health care advice/education regarding health promotion, illness prevention, and management of disease utilizing nursing assessment data, patient, family, and approved CMG Triage protocol. Considers the physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age-specific, and educational needs of the patient. Systematically assesses patients\xe2\x80\x99 actual or potential health care needs, prioritizes their urgency and uses creative and effective problem solving/decision making while recommending an appropriate disposition per clinician and protocol direction.
  • Documents nursing assessment, planning, implementation in the electronic health record. Documentation is timely and in accordance with policy. Evaluates the patients\xe2\x80\x99 and family\xe2\x80\x99s response to teaching. Documentation includes presenting problem, nursing assessment interventions, education and patients\xe2\x80\x99 response to interventions/treatments and education. Makes follow-up telephone calls to patients and referrals as appropriate. Utilizes resources appropriately to provide for the physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age-specific and educational needs of the patient.
  • Provides care based on evidence-based guidelines. Participates in the education, role development and orientation of personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors as requested. Promotes and supports growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate. Follows OSHA guidelines for handling biological fluids and blood. Uses supplies in a fiscally responsible manner.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
  • Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently.
  • Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs.
  • Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision.
  • Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects.
  • Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring on and off of stretchers, exam tables, chair, or wheelchair.
  • May be required to lift 75 pounds.
  • Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and body fluids.
  • Needs to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone.
  • Use of computers will be required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • RN with current unrestricted Arizona license
  • Leadership experience
  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing
  • BSN preferred.
  • Current BLS certification
  • Demonstrates verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic Computer skills, including but not limited to MicroSoft Office applications.
  • Strong Customer Centricity.
  • Requires critical thinking, communication, decision-making, analytical, and strong interpersonal relationship skills.
