Job Description

Randstad is looking for a bright, enthusiastic driven individual for a Sales and Use Tax Manager position with our client on a Direct Hire basis.

This position requires a seasoned accounting professional with a solid understanding of sales and use tax and is experienced in improving systems and processes. Primary responsibilities include sales and use tax registration and rollout for any new filing requirements, collection and maintenance of sales tax exemption forms, self-assessment determinations, timely preparation of returns and remittance of tax and research of all sales and use tax regulation issues. The Sales and Use Tax Manager is responsible for assuring customers are taxed properly and use tax is appropriately assessed. The Sales and Use Tax Manager is expected to review our current procedures and systems and suggest improvements for efficiencies, which they would then be tasked with rolling out if approved. Knowledge of the Company\xe2\x80\x99s sales and use tax software, Vertex, is a plus.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

• Compliance with Superior Court ruling regarding Wayfair vs South Dakota.
• Sales and use tax registration.
• Manage the collection of customer tax exemptions and exceptions in sales tax software, Vertex.
• Maintain Vertex (exemption certificates, filing requirements, etc.)
• Provide vendors with properly executed exemption certificates, where applicable.
• Review invoices and determine proper self-assessment for purchases \xe2\x80\x93 New Jersey, South Carolina and Tennessee.
• File returns generated from Vertex and remit payment.
• Perform state specific sales and use tax research.
• Prepare responses to notices from taxing authorities.
• Assist with state sales and use tax audits.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
• Solid understanding of sales and use tax.
• Familiarity with Vertex or tax software required.
• Familiarity with Oracle (R-12 a plus) ERP system preferred.
• 10+ years of relevant experience.
