The Great Basin Institute seeks two Seasonal Logistics Assistants to assist office-based support staff and field staff based at remote locations throughout the Western US.The Great Basin Institute\xe2\x80\x99s Programs Operations Team supports multi-person field crews and individual placements working with federal, state, and other entities throughout the western United States. This work requires diverse logistical support prior to, during, and following the field season.The Logistics Assistants will collaborate with other GBI program staff to support fleet coordination and management; safety communication and procedures; equipment ordering and inventory; tracking, organizing, and updating paperwork; and managing other logistical needs of remotely based field crews. While this is principally an office-based position, the Logistics Assistants may be called upon to support field activities, which may require consecutive days camping in the field.Time devoted to managing logistics for field crews will vary seasonally, and will be heavier in spring and summer months. These responsibilities require strong skills in organization, communication, and problem solving.Reports To: GBI Logistics ManagerEssential Functions and Duties:

• Work collaboratively with the Program Operations Team and Program Directors, Mangers and Coordinators, as well as field-based crews;
• Perform pre-season equipment/supply checks and inventories, obtain new or replacement equipment and supplies, and track location and condition of equipment and supplies;
• Support training as needed;
• Support the preparation, receipt and organization of paperwork for safety monitoring, inventory, vehicle mileage, and other logs and reports from the field;
• Support daily safety check-ins, daily fire-activity monitoring, and other safety communication to provide timely and effective support of field crews, as needed;
• Coordinate with other GBI staff and remain on-call during the field season to address field crew needs/issues as they may arise in the field;
• Support fleet logistics (4WD trucks in all locations, UTVs in some locations) to ensure all vehicles are properly outfitted with vehicle (emergency equipment) kits, vehicle binders, fuel cards and vehicle first aid kits; and
• Other logistics, fleet and facilities support, as needed.

Contract Timeline:

• June 2024 - October 2024,
• Full time, a minimum of 40 hours per week
• Available to work a varied schedule, including on call some weekends

Based at GBI offices in Reno, NV. The \xe2\x80\x9cBiggest Little City in the World\xe2\x80\x9d, Reno has an estimated population of just over 230,000; the greater Reno-Sparks metropolitan area has a population of just over 435,000. • Rate of Pay: $16.50/hour, DOE

Job Qualifications:

• Experience with fleet and tool management tracking software is desired;
• Experience with spreadsheet and database software;
• Relevant or related field experience, desired;
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally, with a diverse audience including GBI program staff and management, as well as field crews;
• Ability to multi-task and troubleshoot on a daily basis;
• Strongly developed organizational skills and ability to self-motivate;
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for extended periods of time;
• Willingness and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic office environment, and to consistently enact high performance standards and a strong work and team ethic in support of the mission of GBI;
• Possess a clean, valid, state-issued driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and the ability to operate a 4WD vehicle on and off paved roads; and
• Willingness to field camp if necessary to support crews.
