Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.
This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.
DEPARTMENT: Parks & Recreation
HOURS OF WORK: Hours vary; Monday through Sunday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.
LOCATION OF WORK: Kincaid Outdoor Center: 9401 Raspberry Road
These seasonal, full-time positions, (working 38 to 40 hours per week), is estimated to begin February 13, 2023 and will end approximately August 13, 2023.
Example of Duties
Under supervision lead entry-level staff who are responsible for delivering recreation and youth employment activities and events, monitor participant behavior, and clean facilities. Employees in this classification work with independence and initiative within established policies and procedures to perform at a lead staff level and are responsible for providing safe recreational and learning environments. This position is distinguished from that of Recreation Specialist I by the degree of accountability of the work and greater latitude in exercise of independent judgment concerning assigned duties. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and one (1) year of experience working with teens or youth at an educational institution, recreation facility, or camp setting. Prior experience in the use of recreational equipment.
