Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred; some college coursework and/or directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Working knowledge of recreation activities; of rules of play, equipment, and techniques of various sports and recreational activities. Ability to follow oral and written instructions; to communicate effectively; to interact with a variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds and of varying ages; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Current valid driver\'s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-fours months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at the time of interview. Record must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. River City Sportsplex is a 115-acre, multi-sport athletic complex with one of the largest collections of synthetic turf fields in the United States. Our state-of-the-art facility features multiple lighted synthetic athletic fields available for year-round use by residents and tournament participants for soccer, lacrosse, field hockey and many other sports. Under general supervision, the duties for the Operations/Event Staff include but are not limited to, monitoring rentals, specials events and tournaments at the complex, assist moving goals according to field rentals schedule, provide parking assistance with the parks division when needed; responsible for trash removal and the overall cleanliness of the facility including restrooms; provide customer service to event attendees and event staff; performing light maintenance on fencing, and goal netting; responsible for the proper opening and/or closing procedures of River City Sportsplex. Perform assigned assessment reports of facility, fields and equipment when assigned. Perform other work as required.
