  • Alaska Type A Teaching Certificate,
  • Secondary Endorsement in English
  • Experience in rural Alaska Preferred
Responsibilities:1. Use a balanced approach of teaching thatincludes cooperative learning, projectbased, blended, individualized andpersonalized instruction that is engagingand meaningful to students.2. Be active in our professional learningcommunities3. Collaborate with collegial and supervisory staff to implement the goals of the school and district. 4. Maintain open communication and involvement with the students' families and community. 5. Develop positive relationships with parents and students to support academic achievement. 6. Actively participate in creating positive relationships with the community.7. Possess a customer service orientation, maintain and model a professional manner and decorum. 8. Keep abreast of current and emerging research and trends in CTE.9. Actively participate in the districtxe2x80x99s New Teacher cultural orientation/induction program.Alaska Gateway School District (AGSD): AGSD is a highly progressive K-12 district on the road system, serving approximately 400 students in seven rural communities in the outdoor paradise of Alaskaxe2x80x99s Eastern interior. The district extends 26,000 square miles westward from the Canadian Border, comprising the Upper Tanana and Yukon River drainages. Community populations in the district range from 30 (Dot Lake) to 1500 (the regional hub of Tok). Anchorage and Fairbanks are 340 miles, and 200 miles away on paved roads, where one can shop, attend concerts, movies and stage-shows, along with other events.Tok School is the largest school in the district, with 200 students K-12, and 14 certified teachers on staff. The school is a newer facility that has a full vocational technical shop area that includes a wood shop and a metals shop and we are currently installing a MakerSpace lab. We have an indoor hockey arena, and a full size gym. We also have a full 3000 sq. ft commercial greenhouse, hydroponics , and a biomass CHP system that provides both heat and electricity for the school.
