Kamehameha Schools is looking for a Temporary, On-Call Security Auxiliary Technician to support our Security department at our Kap\xc4\x81lama Campus. This role will assist, lead & supervise efforts with programming, repairing, and troubleshooting CCTV and Motorola radio systems on campus.

Ideal candidates will have 3+ years of prior experience as a security technician along with 2 or more of the following credentials:
  • Axis Certified Professional
  • Amateur radio operator "Extra Class" level license
  • ICS 300 and Emergency Management Certifications
  • Guard Card certified


Targeted hourly rate for this position is $28 - 34, depending on level of experience.

Job Summary
Mid-level position that works with minimal direction and supervision to perform general and/or preventative maintenance and repairs to building components, vehicles and equipment. Occasionally performs work independently or with other Auxiliary Services Technicians II/III.

Essential Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repair
  • Independently performs various tasks to maintain and repair building components, vehicles and equipment.
  • Assist in specialized tasks including locksmithing and inventory maintenance.
  • Assists in the planning and maintenance of building components and vehicles by performing moderately complex duties of equal or lesser skill to a high level of workmanship quality as specified by manager or department practices.
  • Schedules, coordinates and conducts State safety inspections for all OPS vehicles and trailers with the exception of Type I School Buses (over 115 vehicles annually).
  • Provides guidance to specified members of the operations team.
  • Assesses materials and tools required for work to be performed efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Prepares or instructs others to prepare work areas for work to be performed, and cleans or instructs others to clean work areas, machines, and equipment following work completion.


Safety
  • Attends all technical and safety- training, including on-the-job training, uses all PPE, and adheres to safety guidance.
  • Assesses work to be performed in advance to identify work-related risks and implements proper mitigations to ensure safety.
  • May instruct others in proper risk assessment and workplace safety best practices.
  • Reports all safety hazards to supervisor and/or takes immediate corrective action, if able to do so.


Administrative
  • Records inventory transactions in computerized work order management system using desktop computers and/or mobile technology devices.
  • Participates in campus and department events and activities as scheduled.
  • Constructively identifies and suggests ways to improve organizational effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Adheres to all employee handbook protocols and policies including mandatory reporting.


Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
  • High School Diploma .
  • Minimum 3 years of related work experience.
  • Valid Driver\'s License.
  • Able to be certified to operate forklift, telehandler and/or scissor lift.
  • Good work ethic, including punctuality and good attendance.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills and knowledge; ability to demonstrate increasing competence with training and experience.
  • Willingness to accept and follow directions.
  • Basic understanding of inventory control measures.
  • Ability to read and comprehend training materials.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow safety instructions.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems and components.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules to accommodate after-hours school-related functions and activities.
  • Demonstrated values of inclusion.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Commercial Drivers License.


Physical and Mental Requirements
  • May require physical work; lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Often requires walking/standing, bending/crouching/reaching/etc., and at times sitting.
  • Manual dexterity and strength to work with hand tools.


Working Conditions (including environmental conditions)
  • Work may involve exposure to extreme temperatures and contact with hazardous materials, dust, dirt, smoke, unpleasant odors, loud noises, etc.
  • Often work outdoors and indoors.
  • Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but may be conducted in evenings and weekends, as necessary.
