Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: Makes rounds as scheduled by the hospital and reports any discrepancies from normal operation to the proper personnel. Checks all essential equipment on each round such as boilers, fire protection equipment, oxygen, vacuum and safety equipment. Assists other hospital personnel in awkward situations such as an unruly visitor or patient. Knows the proper agencies to call for support when needed such as police and fire department. Has a thorough knowledge of all building layouts and unique things about each building. Performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school graduate or GED

Experience: 2 years previous security experience or equivalent preferred. NC Drivers License with a minimum of 2 years driving experience.

Other: Excellent driving record as validated by North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles report (and applicable reports from states lived in during the last 7 years). Excellent customer service and communication skills required. Must be able to operate all types of motor vehicles - automatic and manual/standard transmission. Hospital experience can substitute for security experience. Current CPR through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required. CPI training required annually.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Patrolling hospital and grounds to prevent fires, theft, and vandalism and reporting hazards observed.

• Providing escorts for visitors, patients and teammates to and from parking areas
• Maintaining current information in logs, i.e. BOLO\xe2\x80\x99s and pass on log
• Writing clear, concise reports of incidents \xe2\x80\x93 date, time, who, what, when, where and how
• Respond to emergency calls immediately for patient and visitor disruptions
• Monitoring electronic security equipment (cameras)
• Knowledge of agencies to provide appropriate backup if needed (local law enforcement, etc.)
• Knowledge of appropriate code responses by security
• Occasionally assist funeral home personnel with decreased patients
• Observing patients at risk for harm to self or others (i.e., suicide or fall risk)

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequent walking, standing, sitting. Functional vision and hearing. Range of motion within functional limits. Color discrimination. Occasionally lift 35 pounds from floor to waist; one hand carrying 20 pounds, pushing 40 pounds, pulling 80 pounds, work squatting/crouching, use of both hands, stretching
