Security/Trailer Inspector

Department: Mexico Cross Border Services

Location: Onsite

Salary range: $15.12-$18.91

What work will you perform?

Responsible for maintaining an overall safe and secure work environment at the Landstar Mexico Operations facility and yard (LMO). This will be done by inspecting, maintaining, documenting, and communicating all defects and security breaches regarding Landstar owned equipment or facilities. Conducting ongoing Security and Safety education to our facility employees, agents, BCO\'s, vendors and carriers will be key to long term success.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Maintain complete, accurate and up to date trailer information in Landstar\'s YMS system
  • Communicate trailer arrival information with appropriate facility personnel
  • Inspect trailers for DOT compliance, signs of wear and mechanical defects.
  • Locate and inspect trailing units for satellite tracking device and defects
  • Document and communicate defects regarding equipment to Landstar\'s approved maintenance vendor
  • Maintain complete, accurate and up to date equipment yard inventory
  • Maintain complete, accurate and up to date inspection reports
  • Complete a Safety/Security Walk Through as prescribed, document and report defects to management
  • Maintain a functional camera operations system
  • Maintain the safety/security of the fence and building perimeter
  • Be able to work rotating shift start times 24/7/365 including holidays.
  • Be able to work incidental additional shift when workload or co-worker absence requires it.
  • Be able to work additional hours at the end of your shift when the operation requires it.
Minimum Experience and Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
  • State of Texas Level II Security License
  • one to three years previous experience in trailer mechanics and inspection
  • Compliance with 49 CFR Part 396.19 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations in order to perform an Annual Inspection
  • Compliance with 49 CFR Park 369.25 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations in order to perform brake inspections and adjustments.
  • DOT/FMCSA Inspector Certification
  • Familiarity with CTPAT rules and regulations
  • Proficient in Excel and Internet
  • Working knowledge of iSeries/400, and Outlook

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must be a self-starter, able to prioritize and work with little supervision
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow directions and instructions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
