Seed Quality Coordinator

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Seed Quality Coordinator in Oxnard, CA, you will be responsible for coordinating special tasks, processes, and/or projects within the department. You will engage with internal customers and stakeholders on critical issues related to quality overall or the performance and metrics review of the department. In addition, you will lead processes within the Seed Quality Department and serve as a quality subject matter expert.

The primary responsibilities of this role, Seed Quality Coordinator, are to:

  • Directly responsible for compliance, monitoring, and improvements;
  • Manage changes related to quality and safety programs, or business processes;
  • Serves as a quality champion within the business;
  • Leads and/or facilitates investigations, corrective actions, long term corrective and continuous improvement projects;
  • Able to independently manage Six Sigma and LEAN projects;
  • Review and/or draft controlled documents within Quality Systems;
  • Serves as a quality subject matter expert;
  • Engages suppliers, and stakeholders around service or technical topics related to the overall Quality program, regulatory compliance, sample lifecycle, or QC testing;
  • Complete knowledge of AOSA/ISTA.Bayer rules, procedures and/or work instructions, and customer expectations;
  • Ability to troubleshoot and direct other lab technicians when necessary;
  • Leads processes within the Seed Quality Dept and communicates with internal and external customers;
  • Coordinates initial training, refresher training and competency checks for other full-time employees (Seed Quality Techs I-IV), and contractors;
  • Executes advanced activities in Bayer systems (SAP and electronic networks), commonly used in production processes;
  • Mentor new employees and serve as liaison with other groups within the company;
  • Acts as process owner when manager is not present;
  • Review equipment needs, submits CAPEX requests;
  • Flexibility to work in sub-departments;
  • Potential to work in dusty environment as needed;
  • Lift up to 60 pounds;
  • Performs repetitive tasks throughout the day;
  • The Quality Coordinator role is essential for enhancing manufacturing excellence and upholding exceptional quality standards for our products and processes. This role will manage all aspects of sampling and laboratory tasks ensuring the integrity of data and strict adherence to regulatory requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma / GED required;
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal & written) technical subjects related to botany, seed and seedling structures, testing protocols and laboratory practices;
  • Ability to interpret protocols, work instructions and publications related to seed testing;
  • Ability to design scientific experiments;
  • Ability to independently and proactively identify problems and lead troubleshooting activities;
  • Interest and knowledge in advanced seed testing activities and equipment such as moisture, seed count, vigor, germination and weed seed identification;
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint required;
  • Experience with specialized software such as Bartender, Argus, Minitab, Spotfire, or Business Objects
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, flexibility, highly dependable with ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast paced, deadline driven environment;
  • Ability to train, guide, and support the development of other employees.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma / GED with 8 years work experience in a quality, biological, agricultural, or related fields OR an Associates degree and 6 years experience in a quality, biological, agricultural, or related field OR Bachelor\'s degree with 4 years experience;
  • Experience with SAP preferred.
Employees can expect to be paid an hourly rate between $27.67 to $41.51. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This hourly range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant\'s location, market data/ranges, an applicants skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
