General Summary:
The vascular interventional technologist assists physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided vascular and non-vascular procedures, including angioplasty, stenting, thrombolysis, and more. Utilizes sophisticated fluoroscopic equipment to capture images of blood vessels and internal anatomy for diagnostic and therapeutic benefit.
This role requires technical competence in positioning techniques, as well as safe and accurate equipment utilization. Constant mental attention is required while performing all procedures. Proper AORN sterile techniques must always be observed and practiced. Technologist must demonstrate in depth knowledge of the many various catheters, balloons, guidewires, drains, ports, coils, stents, and embolization devices that are utilized during typical interventional examinations.
Technologist must be proficient in Interventional Radiology, Vascular Interventional, and Neuro Interventional procedures. Technologist must demonstrate the capability for maintaining professional and cooperative working relationships consistent with the Holy Cross guiding behaviors, as well as support the mission and philosophy of Holy Cross Health. Technologist will maintain current CPR/ACLS, Maryland State License and ARRT certification in Vascular Interventional Radiography. Completes annual mandatory training, in-services, competency documentation, and any other departmental documents required. Attends departmental staff meetings. Assists in orientation of new staff and radiology students. Completes other duties as assigned such as on-call, transporting patients, cleaning rooms, stocking supplies, peer review, etc.
Minimum Licensure/Certification Required (if applicable):
Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Vascular Interventional Radiography, or equivalent (highly preferred)
ARRT Certification
Licensed by the State of Maryland.
CPR/ACLS Certified
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Graduate of AMA approved Radiologic Technology Program.
3 years\' experience in a progressive acute care setting hospital performing IR, Neuro, and Vascular cases
Reads, writes, speaks and comprehends English language.
