BioMedicine Design group (BMD) is seeking a creative and self-motivated Senior Associate Scientist to join their team. The candidate will play an essential role in a high-energy RNA and biotherapeutic platform development research laboratory. The candidate will participate in development and innovation of RNA-based therapeutics at a pre-clinical stage. They will be responsible for in-vitro transcription optimization (IVT), purification, and cell-based characterization of new RNA designs using a broad range of molecular biology-based technologies and equipment. The candidate will also contribute to the group wide deliverables.

responsibilities:
- Perform efficient IVT & purification protocols for novel RNA therapeutic candidates.
- Perform and support development of molecular biology assays to assess RNA quality and quantification
- Perform functional assessment of RNA in cell culture models
- Routinely provide updates at project meetings and maintain updated records
- Drive technology innovation: design and implement molecular biology strategies to enable small scale analysis of RNAs
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including therapeutic discovery teams and R&D project leaders
qualifications:
Must-Have
- BS with 2-4 years or MS with 0-2 years of relevant experience in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline
- Knowledgeable in nucleic acid biology, and IVT or RNA stability
- Hands-on experience with general molecular biology methods, specifically RNA isolation and assessment techniques such as qPCR, ddPCR, TapeStation or Fragment Analyzer
- Hands-on experience with aseptic cell culture techniques using mammalian cells
- Knowledgeable in preparative and analytical chromatography methods
- Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross functional teams
- Organized, detail oriented, multi-task, and remain flexible with changing needs
- Must be self-motivated, curious and able to work under strict timeline with limited supervision once trained
Nice-To-Have
- Prior experience in cellular assays (including plate based assay, gel analysis, FACS, etc).
- Prior experience with purification (using affinity and traditional chromatographic techniques) on AKTA chromatography systems
- Experience in therapeutic drug discovery, gene therapy or RNA therapeutics
- Nucleic acid based molecular biology methods
- Mammalian cell culture and cell-based assays
- Self-motivated and scientifically curious, able to work collaboratively, with strong communication skills
Hard Skills:
- Hands-on experience with general molecular biology methods, specifically RNA isolation and assessment techniques such as qPCR, ddPCR, TapeStation or Fragment Analyzer
