Job Description


In our \'always on\' world, it\'s essential to have a genuine connection with the work you do.As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will be part of our Automation Team responsible for designing and building custom automation equipment for manufacturing CommScope\xe2\x80\x99s fiber optic products. You will work closely with manufacturing sites to design custom manufacturing equipment to improve quality, increase capacity, and reduce manufacturing costs. This position is based in Shakopee, Minnesota, and offers hybrid work opportunities while supporting our global manufacturing facilities.How You\'ll Help Us Connect the World:

  • Produce creative concepts for electrical and control designs to improve quality and cycle time and reduce manufacturing costs, and propose them to the team.
  • Deliver new concepts through brainstorming machine designs, electrical component research, hands-on bench testing, and feasibility testing.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, mechanical, and process engineering team members to integrate electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical designs.
  • Develop, build, and test semi-automated equipment and processes for fiber optics.
  • Work with other Electrical engineers on the team to develop and implement work instructions and standardize the electrical design of processes.
Required Qualifications for Consideration:A bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or Software Engineering and eight or more years of experience designing and programming industrial control systems.Experience developing software from scratch for a variety of control systems, including :
  • PLCs: Allen Bradley, Siemens, Keyence, Beckhoff
  • HMIs: Pro-Face, PanelView, SIMATIC
  • Ability to travel to global production locations to support project intake, development, and deployment, up to 15%.
  • Advanced experience with computers, configuration, networking, IP Addresses, and the ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization and not require future sponsorship.
You Will Excite Us If You Have:
  • Familiar with C programming and structured text software, and an understanding of motion control and robotic programming.
  • Experience with SCADA systems and 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Possess hands-on wiring and assembly experience.
  • Demonstrate project management experience, showing strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
