Together, let\'s advance the world of minimally invasive care.Primary Function of PositionIntuitive is the leader in robotic assisted surgery and robotic assisted bronchoscopy, designing and manufacturing complex systems for use with da Vinci and ION procedures. These systems are tightly integrated with digital capabilities, which enhance clinical outcomes for patients, drive hospital efficiency and optimize costs to serve.The Digital Senior Director of PMO is responsible for the program management across all development of new products and services from concept to commercialization to meet business objectives to deliver on time, with high quality and with budgeted resources. This includes aligning project/program execution with the Digital Business Unit strategic objectives, effectively managing the digital portfolio, developing robust project/resource plans, managing risks/opportunities/budgets, engaging cross-functional stakeholders and executing to achieve desired business outcomes and customer benefits. The Digital Senior Director of PMO leads a team of program and project managers; works across functional leaders and business units to identify resources, inter-dependencies between business units and drives project deliverables, providing portfolio visibility to the organization.Essential Job Duties

  • Provides inspiring vision for the PMO team and fosters an environment that encourages creativity, innovation and crisp execution in fast-paced environment:
  • Directs activities of senior managers and individual project managers responsible for execution of NPD goals and deliverables.
  • Leverages PMI best practices, frameworks and industry tools for robust project planning, risk mitigations, execution & value delivery.
  • Attracts and retains best talent. Ability to coach and develop team members.
  • Oversees the execution of new product development programs from concept to commercialization to deliver business outcomes
  • Works directly with Digital BU leadership team (LT) to support strategic planning, budgeting and portfolio assurance to achieve projected growth.
  • Drives day-to-day use of the Digital Product Lifecycle Process across all programs and projects and identifies process improvements to enhance NPD delivery framework and governance.
  • Identifies resource capacity/capabilities needed to achieve Digital portfolio through established resource planning models and tools. Drives escalations to close major resource gaps with Digital BU LT.
  • Leverages project management best practices (including agile and waterfall methodologies), tools/techniques to develop robust project plans, effectively managing risks/opportunities, stakeholders engagement and executing to achieve business outcomes and customer benefits.
  • Directs cross-functional teams in context of new product development, product launches, regulatory submissions and other high priority projects.
  • Facilitates phase gate reviews for all new product development projects within the BU portfolio, ensuring alignment to business objectives and effective decision making.
  • Proactively manages changes in project scope, identifying impact, tradeoffs, and associated contingency plans.
  • Drives the integration of Digital products and capabilities into da Vinci and ION robotic platforms, which includes incorporating AI and ML into Intuitive\'s ecosystem and managing interfaces across business units
  • Foster an agile software development life cycle environment and support the necessary infrastructure to do so.
  • Interacts internally and externally with executive management, requiring excellent communication and negotiating skills
  • Able to work in a strong matrix organization and lead without direct authority. Able to develop strong relationships and influence stakeholders.
  • Ensures compliance for medical- and non-medical device with respective requirements. Experience with application of design controls to medical devices.
  • Supports finance in tracking and reporting project spending on periodic basis.
  • Leads key PMO initiatives to mature core PM capabilities and leadership competencies
  • Oversees development of project documentation including project charters, project plans, RFP\'s, process maps, and business requirements in alignment with Digital Leadership Team.
QualificationsRequired Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of 15 years of project management experience in medical device industry and/or non-medical devices operating in highly regulated industry.
  • Minimum 7 years of leadership (direct team management experience).
  • Experienced with software and hardware strategies and product development
  • Proficiency with PMI standards, techniques and tools. Demonstrated experience implementing and improving Agile Project Management methodologies.
  • Proven track record to lead, influence and collaborate across functions.
  • Strong people management skills with ability to ensure team success. Seasoned in coaching and developing team members.
  • Demonstrated experience working with all phases of the product development lifecycle including concept evaluation, feasibility, design verification, validation, and commercialization of new products and services
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and change management skills to coalesce conflicting views and drive alignment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in a demanding environment while motivating core and extended project teams.
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal) skills and executive presence.
Required Education and Training
  • Minimum Bachelor\'s degree required. MS preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
  • Design Controls experience preferred.

  • MS preferred
  • 7 years in Medical Device Industry applying Design Controls
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
