Projects may include conducting system planning studies, designing protection and sectionalizing schemes, assessing the impact of distributed energy resources (DER) on the system, researching power quality issues, and offering daily operations support and advice. Work is generally done for electric cooperatives and following RUS, IEEE, and NESC standards, though occasional support for other departments and clients may be needed. Communicate on technical topics, provide training and mentorship, maintain client relationships. Must have a passion for supporting clients and the communities they serve to improve society for everyone, see every complex project as an opportunity to shape the future, and provide clear, balanced guidance for long-term success.What You Will Be Doing:

  • Lead consulting projects that include:
  • Perform utility studies, including, but not limited to, long-range plans, construction work plans, distributed energy resource system impact studies, protection/sectionalizing, arc flash, power factor correction, and system reliability.
  • Perform electrical system modeling analysis utilizing engineering analysis software.
  • Prepare and assist in the preparation of cost estimates for power delivery planning and design projects.
  • Prepare inspection reports for electrical utility lines based on engineer notes and staking sheets.
  • Business Development/Employee Development
  • Consult with Cooperative and Municipal clients on day-to-day operational questions.
  • Communicate with clients and build and sustain client relationships.
  • For mastered skill sets, provide training and mentorship internally to colleagues and externally to clients.
  • Collaborate internally with colleagues on technical subjects.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You Will Need:Education and Experience
  • Four-year degree in engineering, electrical, or other related fields
  • Ten years\xe2\x80\x99 experience/working knowledge of engineering and operations of utility power systems required.
  • Ten years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a leadership role in a utility company
Knowledge and Skills
  • Daily operations of rural and municipal electric utilities
  • Computer, Microsoft Office products, and other required software programs
  • Required codes and standards, such as NESC, ANSI, IEEE, etc.
  • Rural Utilities Service (RUS) requirements
